Tailwind Promotions offers two exciting sports adventures in the Solomon Islands. The Fly Solomons Running and Munda Lagoon Festivals take place in the Central and Western Provinces.


Munda Lagoon Festival – October 2012
The Munda Lagoon Festival provides a unique opportunity to witness traditional war canoe races and displays. The festival includes the 900m open water swim honouring Alick Whickham who introduced the Australian Crawl or freestyle to the world.
The festival also includes the Tie Va Rani Triathlon comprising of a 4km run, 550m swim and 800m canoe. This awesome multisport event requires competitors to use traditional dugout canoes.

Fly Solomons Running Festival – 9 Sept 2012
Honiara on Guadalcanal hosts the annual running festival that includes 5km, 10k, half and full marathons. The Solomon Sea with Savo Island and Florida Group provide a picturesque backdrop to the runs.
The Guadalcanal Peace Marathon in 2012 will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Gualalcanal Campaign of World War 2. The marathon will honour the 38,000 war dead and those who served in the South Pacific theatre.
The run follows a westerly course along Mendana Way passing through local villages and historic wartime sites.
Run packages start from $699 including including airfares (Brisbane – Honiara return), 3 nights twin share accommodation, complimentary run entries and competitors’ bag.
